What is Tikipunk?
Polynesian Pop and its associated trappings - rum drinks, dark dining rooms wallpapered in lauhala mats, exotica music softly wafting between live plants and over the sound of trickling water - has always been about escapism, about finding solace in a jungle still artificial, yes, but at least not concrete.
And in a world where the concrete jungle is more like a prison, mankind belabors the escapism until it becomes the standard.
Tikipunk is our term for this world, where Mai Tais are more common than Martinis, where bamboo huts and fishnets adorn the finest restaurants, and where sanity and morality dangle, dusty and neglected, from a fine thread.
Meet The Authors
John D. Silvio
John Silvio is a writer who has absolutely no idea ever what to write for these little bios. He likes to cook and play games. He has a degree in physics from MIT and in journalism from Harvard, but he absolutely knows they don’t matter.
E.T. Jasso
E.T. Jasso is a writer, editor, tikiphile, armchair historian, and part owner of Texas. He earned degrees in biology and writing from MIT and sometimes pretends that it matters.
Joshua Pevner
Joshua Pevner is not actually an author. He has enjoyed failed careers as an editor, jester, mathematician, boozehound, and knitter. MIT named an award after him, which he has not received. His enigmatic wife has secured their cats in a hide-out north of Boston; their ultimate destination - unknown.
